Spent my evening watching various independent comedies on Netflix.
Ping Pong Playa is the one that stood out the most for me.
Ping Pong Playa was a story of a Chinese American guy named Chris Wang in his early 20's that believes himself to be the next NBA superstar. In reality he has no basketball skills whatsoever. He lives in the shadow of his older brother that is the current ping pong champion for the last few years. Chris is stuck in a phase of slacking off and not doing anything with his life that he does not seem to want to get out of. In the course of the story he causes his brother and mother to be injured and decides to go for the ping pong championship.
This movie left me feeling really good there was not any off the wall crazy characters. There was no real evil villain and at the end Chris earns the respect of his parents and almost of his brother for his performance in the tournament. I highly recommend this movie for any one. I will warn that there is some alluded to foul language but it is all censored out by a sound of a basketball bouncing.
